Coach Ramirez Collects Win # 1!

Coach Ramirez Collects Win # 1!

Coach Ramirez joined the SUNY Adirondack soccer program as a student-athlete not too long ago and now will enter the record books as a winning head coach, joining a small fraternity of individuals that can say they have coached a team to a victory against an intercollegiate soccer program. While still very young in comparison to his peers he has put in the time and effort to hone his craft and learn from every level of the game. After leaving SUNY Adirondack in 2008 he played at SUNY Potsdam and earned his bachelor's degree. A true Timberwolf, Ramirez has had two stints as assistant coach with SUNY Adirondack, the first coming in 2009 and the second coming from 2014 to 2016. During his time working under Coach Richard Shaw, he oversaw the first Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference championship in program history and helped produce the Conference Player of the Year. Following the 2016 season, Ramirez was hired as the head coach of the program and given full reign to take the program to the next level.

He got  his career started off with a spectacular recruiting class bringing in 13 freshman recruits to go with 7 returning student-athletes. With that many fresh faces and a brand new program there were some bumps along the road in the early season as the Timberwolves started off 0-2, but that would all change on a trip to Jefferson County. The men's team sat on the sidelines and watched as the Lady Timberwolves played the first game of the double header, facing a similar situation to their own. The women's team started the season off 0-2 as well and hadn't put a ball in the net for the season. With the men's team looking on, first Hannah Gould then Lauren Vetter found the back of the net to secure the program's first victory of the season and hand the baton off to the men's team. The men would not disappoint as they defended extremely well and found offense from Jack Fitzgerald and Richard Morris whose goal each put the match out of reach and secured the victory for the Timberwolves and Coach Ramirez!

This will be the first of many wins for Ramirez and he will get another chance to add to his win total on Monday the 11th at North Country.
